Chinese traditional "guo hua" paintings are created on rice paper. Rice paper is extremely soft and thin and becomes wrinkled after the initial painting process. To create a finished product, a second layer of paper is added to the dried painting using a homemade adhesive. After joining the paper the artwork must be flattened and smoothed of all wrinkles and bubbles and then left to dry.

It is important to honor and support the traditional crafting methods used in the production of "guo hua."
